The time was ripe to change out a dated 1980’s kitchen and make new in the vision of this wonderful client.

English country styling was the theme, one that would seem old worldly and attempt to meld the inside with the exterior.

Porcelain floor tiles that have a rustic form factor, were laid in a pattern evocative old world street paving.

Hand made backsplash tile was chosen to be able to get just the right shade of white, and the hand shaped tiles slight ruggedness adds visual charm to this surface

Artisan made, cast metal shelf brackets, along with matching patina wall sconces, add detailing and visual interest to the theme

 

Quartz countertops with a look and feel of natural soapstone, offer old world charm. The soft white veining offers an intuitive response of repose to what looks and feels like natural stone

 
 
 
 
 
 
 

The fireplace surround was clad in a hand troweled Venetian lime plaster. The rawness of this natural material allows for a slightly more polished finish, yet upholds the rustic charm we were after.

The built in cabinets on either side are painted Benjamin Moore Collennade gray, the wall shelves are white oak with a tinted stain.

 
 
 

Chocolate brown hardwood floors were added to the remainder of the home. With its rough hewn finish and exposed knots, it added to the theme of old world ruggedness and at the same time made the home feel so warm and inviting.
